175 nations endorsed a United Nations agreement to limit plastics production and, hopefully, put a halt to its damaging pollution. Delegates at the UN Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, rejoiced after the historic announcement and were seen hugging, cheering, and crying at the major environment win. The Plastics Pollution Treaty will improve recycling and help eliminate existing plastic waste in the environment. There are 400 million tons of plastic produced each year, which has led to devastating impacts on the planet and it’s vulnerable species. With this new treaty, plastic may become a thing of the past.
