Sweden’s Charging Highway

A highway in Sweden dubbed the “E-20” will be the country’s first road that charges electric vehicles while they drive on it. The E-20, which will begin construction in 2025, will connect Sweden's three major cities— Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmo. The highway will have a wireless charging infrastructure built into the road, which sends electromagnetic signals to the vehicles passing through. E-20 will be particularly beneficial for freight trucks that require more charging time to make it long distances. Similar projects are in the works in Germany, Israel, and Italy, but E-20 will be the longest electric charging road in Europe upon completion.
