Residents of Carnesvilla, Georgia frequently see the “pup bus” on the roads— a school bus that takes local dogs to and from Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming for doggie daycare. When bus driver and Keller Creek owner Tyson Cash went to pick up one of his regulars named Motley this summer, he was surprised to see a labrador waiting alongside him. Cash called Motley’s owners, who said they didn’t know who the mystery pup was. Cash worried about letting the stray lab onto the bus since he didn’t know the dog’s health status and decided to leave him in Motley’s grassy yard until he could come up with a plan. The stray didn’t take no for an answer however, and chased the pup bus down the road as Cash drove away. Cash’s heart broke for the dog and he knew he had to help. He took a video of the adorable yellow lab and posted it in the daycare’s Facebook group, asking if anyone recognized the dog or was willing to take him in. The parents of Nellie, another yellow lab at Keller Creek, immediately fell in love with the dog and decided to adopt him. The stray, newly named Waylon, is now happily living with Nellie and his new forever family. After being nursed back to health, Waylon finally got his wish to ride on the pup bus to Keller Creek, this time with a home to go back to.
