Rapper and producer Metro Boomin is using personal tragedy to help mothers in need. He launched the Single Moms Are Superheroes initiative seven years ago to honor his own single mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, who he described as his best friend. Since Wayne’s passing in 2023, Metro Boomin has doubled down on his efforts to give back to single mothers by creating a grant program. The musician has pledged to give $20,000 in grants and free concert tickets to nonprofits supporting single moms in each of the 21 cities on his ongoing tour. So far, he’s given $20,000 grants to Essential Families in Kansas City, Jeremiah Program in St. Paul, Alternatives for Girls in Detroit, and more. Metro Boomin hopes to continue using his platform to give back and is looking forward to forming relationships with deserving organizations and single moms around the country over the course of his tour.
