Queer Youth Conference in TX

Mars Gamez, a 14-year-old in Mission, Texas, is starting a queer youth conference for kids living in rural Texas. Gamez won a $10,000 grant from the nonprofit It Gets Better to fund the conference. The ninth grader wanted to start the conference to create a safe space for queer youth in Texas and bring their community together. The conference will be focused on education and building a support network for queer kids living in a predominently conservative area. They will discuss influential members of the LGBTQ+ community and talk about how to build representation. Good luck on a successful conference, Mars!
