Plans for Eco-Conscious Aircraft

NASA and Boeing are teaming up on the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project to create green technology that can be used for commercial flights. The goal is to create fuel efficient, sustainable aircrafts that can make the aviation industry more environmentally friendly by the 2030s. The focus will be redefining single-aisle aircrafts, which comprise about half of worldwide aviation emissions. NASA and Boeing hope to reduce fuel and emissions by 30% compared to today’s greenest aircraft, working towards the goal of the aviation industry achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The companies are contributing a combined $1.15 billion to the cause over the next seven years and plan to test out various experimental aircraft designs to become as environmentally conscious as possible.
