For over 30 years, Living Paintings has been transforming the world of picture books for blind and visually impaired children, bringing art to life through touch and sound. The organization adapts books into tactile versions that allow visually impaired readers to experience stories in a whole new way. Volunteers create detailed illustrations from books that are then molded and pressed into plastic copies, painted, and paired with audio guides voiced by well-known personalities. The result is a series of accessible books that foster engagement and creativity for children who are often excluded from traditional picture books. This initiative not only brings joy and inclusion but also fosters social connections, allowing visually impaired children to interact with their peers and experience stories that are traditionally shared through sight.
