19-year-old Marielle Smith was working part-time at a nursing home in Minnesota while dreaming of becoming a nail technician. Smith started practicing her manicure and nail art skills on nursing home residents, who were more than happy to partake in some pampering and self-care. The residents were always impressed with Smith’s talent and encouraged her to apply to beauty school, which she did. Smith is now a certified nail technician after graduating from the Atelier Academy of Beauty in Hopkins, Minnesota. She continues to provide free nail services to women at the nursing home and says she wouldn’t have achieved her dream without their support.
