Universal Music Group has partnered with the Music Health Alliance to launch the Music Industry Mental Health Fund, providing mental health services to both current and former music professionals, regardless of their affiliation with UMG. This initiative builds on UMG and MHA’s previous healthcare access program from 2021 and aims to streamline access to mental health care, financial assistance, and psychiatric support. The fund was announced shortly after Chappell Roan’s Grammy Awards speech advocating for better healthcare and wages for artists, sparking broader industry discussions. Additionally, Roan and several artists, including Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Noah Kahan, have donated to Backline’s We Got You campaign, supporting mental health resources for musicians. The initiative aligns with growing calls, including from Ariana Grande, for record labels and entertainment companies to prioritize mental health services for artists, highlighting an industry-wide shift toward better mental wellness support.
