Meet The Team Behind: Cofertility

Cofertility was founded by women who faced family building challenges and wanted to make egg freezing an accessible, affordable option for all. Their unique Split program allows women to freeze and store their eggs for free when they provide half to a family needing a donor. Cofertility’s supportive community helps individuals feel educated and empowered throughout the family building process. Learn more here

How does your Split program work?

The Split program offers women a chance to both freeze their own eggs and donate half the eggs to a family who cannot conceive otherwise. If you qualify for the program and decide to give half of your retrieved eggs, every expense associated with the egg freezing procedure —  medications, supplements, travel if necessary, insurance, and 10 years of storage — are completely free of charge. We don’t even need a payment or credit card up front, as the family you match with covers all the expenses. Depending on the number of eggs that you are able to retrieve in the first cycle, you may want to complete a second Split cycle so that you’re donating and keeping a sufficient number of eggs. This is something you can discuss with the doctor.

What kinds of families do you work with?

Many types of families need egg donors to grow their family, including couples facing infertility, LGBTQ+ couples, cancer survivors, women with age-related fertility decline, and more. We welcome all types of intended parents to use our platform to find their donor match. You’ll learn more about the specific family when presented with a potential match. In your application, you’ll have an opportunity to let us know the types of families that you are most interested in helping. When an intended parent is interested in matching with you, one of our Member Advocates will reach out to you with some information about the parents. At that point, you’ll have the opportunity to formally consent to the match.

What are the costs associated with egg freezing?

Unfortunately, for most of us, the best time to freeze our eggs is when we can least afford it. If you’re eligible, our Split program enables you to freeze and store your eggs for up to 10 years entirely for free when you donate half of the eggs retrieved to a family who can't otherwise conceive. In our Keep program, you can freeze and store your eggs for your own future use, with lower prices on things like consultation fees and long-term storage and medication – as well as our team’s support and access to our community. The cost will vary depending on the clinic you choose to work with, but we have partnerships that help lighten the financial load.

What makes Cofertility different?

If egg freezing sounds like a lot to go through alone, you’re absolutely right. That’s why we prioritize community every step of the way. With Cofertility, women can freeze their eggs more affordably, or even for free. Our inclusive online spaces allow women to connect with others going through the process in our private online community. Our Split program gives you the opportunity to make someone’s family building dreams a reality while helping you plan for your own future. We provide patients with trustworthy guidance and evidence-based research so they can make informed decisions about their fertility.
