Musicians in London are making live music as accessible as possible by performing on strangers’ doorsteps. Chloe Edwards-Wood, a saxophone player and singer, was out of work during the pandemic and wanted to bring the joy of music to people struggling to get through the hard time. She posted about her mission on social media, started a crowdfunding campaign, and got to work. Before she knew it, Give a Song was born. Since Give a Song was founded 18 months ago, Edwards-Wood has performed over 360 times, put smiles on thousands of faces, and recruited other musicians to join the cause. Individuals can nominate a worthy recipient online, and if chosen they receive a free, private concert from the comfort of their doorstep. Recipients can make song requests during the performance, the most common choice being “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.
