First Disabled Astronaut on ISS

John McFall, a British surgeon and former Paralympic sprinter, is on track to make history as the first astronaut with a physical disability to join a long-term mission on the International Space Station. After losing his right leg in a motorcycle accident at 19, McFall defied the odds, winning a bronze medal in the 100-meter sprint at the 2008 Paralympics and later becoming a doctor. Selected by the European Space Agency in 2022 for their groundbreaking "Fly!" program, he has now advanced to the final training phase, proving that space travel is becoming more inclusive. McFall’s journey is a huge step toward opening up space exploration to people of all abilities, and he hopes to inspire others to chase their dreams no matter what obstacles lay in their path.
