Chef’s Floating Kitchen Seat

Austrian chef Peter Lammer was in a serious motorcycle accident six years ago that left him unable to stand, making it difficult for him to move around the kitchen for his job. Lammer worried that he would have to give up his career and passion, until his friend Bernhard Tichy came to him with an idea for a one-of-a-kind invention. Tichy used his mountaineering experience to create a hanging kitchen seat that takes the weight off of Lammer’s injured legs and allows him to “float” around his work space. Lammar can rest on the bicycle seat attached to the C-shaped metal chair, which is connected to brackets on the ceiling so that the chair can move to different cooking stations. Despite doctors telling Lammer that he would never be able to do a standing job again, Lammer is now back doing what he loves at his restaurant Johanneskeller Im Priesterhaus in Salzburg.
