App For Visually Impaired

All_Aboard is a new app that was developed to assist visually impaired individuals with navigating around cities. Researchers at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary used artificial intelligence to create the app, which uses micro-navigation to help visually impaired individuals find the exact location of bus stops, train stops, and other destinations. All_Aboard is intended to be used in conjunction with traditional GPS systems on smartphones. The app uses phone cameras to detect street signs and uses auditory messaging to alert users where they should walk and when to stop. All_Aboard is currently programmed to recognize bus stops in 10 major cities around the world, and developers are currently working on making the app more widely available.
