At just 18 years old, Juliette Lamour has become the youngest Canadian to ever win a lottery. The Algoma University student purchased her very first lottery ticket on the advice of her grandfather, who encouraged Lamour to “test her luck” after turning 18. To her surprise, Lamour ended up winning the $48 million lottery. Back in 2010, photos of Lamour were published by a Canadian news outlet when the then 5-year-old decided to donate the contents of her piggy bank to help victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Lamour thinks her childhood act of kindness could have played a role in receiving the lucky ticket. Lamour plans on using the money to give back and fund her education to become a doctor.
